Steven R. Christensen, MD

Dr. Christensen has practiced at Digestive Health since 1994.  He specializes in gastrointestinal endoscopy, general gastroenterology, and in the diagnosis and management of liver disease, including the preoperative and postoperative management of patients undergoing liver transplantation.  He supervises Digestive Health's Hepatitis C clinic.

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was honored by membership in the Phi Betta Kappa society, Dr. Christensen was awarded his medical degree by the University of California, San Francisco, which recognized him as the Gold-Headed Cane Society inductee and graduating class commencement speaker.  He completed a three year residency in internal medicine at the University of Minnesota following which he spent two years as a gastroenterology fellow at the University of California, San Diego followed by a year of hepatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Christensen is a former chairman of the Department of Medicine at Mercy Regional Medical Center, where he has also served on the Physician Peer Review Organization Committee.  He has addressed both the Rocky Mountain Chapter and the national convention of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates as an invited speaker on liver disease.  He was active also with the Midwest Hepatitis Study Group.
