Southwest Colorado's Colon Cancer Screening and Prevention Specialists

Colon cancer is...
Preventable | Treatable | Beatable

Colorectal cancer screening saves lives.
If everyone aged 50 years old or older were screened regularly, up to 60% of deaths from this cancer could be avoided.

"Patients who want the best results should pick an outstanding colonoscopist, cleanse their bowels scrupulously and probably take the final laxative dose shortly before the procedure. Colonoscopies have helped reduce the death rate from colorectal cancer. The main problem with colonoscopies is that too few people bother to get them."

We specialize in providing high-quality colonoscopy services that are safe, comfortable, private, cost-effective and convenient.

Colonoscopy in our quality-recognized and accredited office-based endoscopy center avoids the high cost and cost-sharing* incurred at a hospital's outpatient department.

*personal financial liability for charges remaining after insurance processing

Most patients spend less than two hours in our facility and leave with a complete written report of their findings, ready to resume most activities as soon as they depart.  Our doctors are colonoscopy experts, performing more than 2,000 of these procedures yearly at our in-town freestanding endoscopy center, where we have provided more than 25,000 colonoscopies since we opened in 2001.  Our patients have the confidence of knowing that Digestive Health's experienced specialists have an extensive local reputation, having together provided over 64 years of gastroenterology care in Durango.

Our commitment to meeting our profession's goals for quality and safety has been recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

The region's endoscopy technology leader
Southwest Endoscopy is pleased to announce our implementation of Olympus' state-of-the-art EVIS EXERA III Endoscopy System.  This integrated platform of devices allows us to take full advantage of the rapidly evolving field of enhanced endoscopic imaging in the care we provide to our patients.  We are the only facility in the region outside the metropolitan areas of Denver, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, Phoenix and Salt Lake City offering this level of endoscopic care.
